What is Plastic Extrusion?

Plastic Extrusions

What is plastic extrusion? Well, this is the production method wherein the plastic will be melted and molded into a constant profile and will be sliced to length. This particular manufacturing process is primarily used in producing a wide selection of items which include piping, plastic sheeting and wire insulation. Plastic extrusion is added to the entire manufacturing processes for window frames and adhesive tapes. You may also encounter some companies that are performing this production procedure in making some custom rubber products.

In the process of plastic extrusion, the raw material which is commonly plastic will be fed into a cylinder or heated extruder hollow. Usually, the raw plastic used in this process is in bead form and it can be blended with colorants prior the process of extrusion starts. In some cases, you may find that ultraviolet inhibitors are added to the beads of raw plastic.

Once the plastic beads are already inside the equipment, the beads together with any material added will move over the opening within the extruder hollow towards a twist system. The screw will revolve ad it will force the plastic to advance over the cavity.

This particular production process is a very important part of the entire processing of most products that you can find in the market today. This process is quite tricky but it can be made successful with the help of the best tools and machines to use. There are some companies that are more focused on performing such process and they take precautions and follow the standard procedures behind the use of plastic extrusion in order to obtain desirable results.
